Hi everybody,
I purchased a Markbass MULTIAMP Mono fairly recently because I got tired of carrying all my pedals around and wanted an efficient solution. So far the MULTIAMP has lived up to my expectations, aside from a small latency when switching between settings.
One detail I haven't figured out yet is how to adjust the main volume of the amp. The master volume knob in the end needs to be set for each separate sound. I do not find a volume knob that would allow me to adjust the overall volume of the amp, like the phones output. So far, it has caused me some problems in live situations. When performing in small clubs without a P.A. system, it can be quite tedious to have to adjust the master volume for each setting I will use during the show. When the venue is large and there's a P.A. this isn't problematic, but it's getting a little frustrating.
Is there an easy solution for this? Am I missing something?
Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom, Welcome to the site. I'm a bit confused, what you're describing is what I use the master volume knob for.
I own a stereo MA DV Mark and the master volume knob is for the unbalanced out, cab out and the phones (total pointless). Never had a problem with setting the volume at a gig and just leaving it there.
I make sure all the patches that I use at a gig are at the same level pre gig, so there's no volume drops and use the master volume knob to set the stage volume. Never had to mess with the master once I've got my guitar in the mix.

Mmm...it seems the DV mark is a little different to that regard, markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=238 As you can see, the set-up of the knobs is different in the markbass MULTIAMP. There's a different knob for the level of the phones output that is easily adjustable. The "master" knob sets the volume for the other outputs, but is stored along with the other settings that are specified. Unlike the DV mark, there is no level knob, so the only way to adjust for different gain settings (e.g. when you want to exploit the tube amp models a bit more) is by adjusting the master knob. When I change the volume with master volume knob and move on to another sound, the master volume setting that was stored with that sound is recalled. So the only solution I see now is to change and store the master volume for every sound during sound-check, which is tedious. I was hoping there was an option somewhere to change that, but I haven't found it yet. I really hope I'm missing something here, because it seems a bit silly that the people over at Markbass would not take that into acount. Tom

Uy, I just found out that the newest firmware allows you to select how you want to use the masterknob. I just hope I don't lose the possibility to compensate for different gain settings.

Ah... That's right they changed that funtion when they released the Bass MA. That would be a real pain. Have they just released an update for the bass MA?

Well, it was a real pain up to now :-). Now to get the update to install...It doesn't seem to detect my SDhc card, but that's for another thread. Too bad they didn't think of this issue for firmware version 1.0.

I really don't understand why they removed the gain/level/master type setup... That dedicated headphone knob is a total waste.. Sigh. It might be enough that I won't buy the amp because of it. I gig different sized venues frequently and having only a gain control to balance presets?? On a $1500 amp!?
Please.

Hi, I had the same problem with the missing master volume. So I did an easy modification on the MULTIAMP pcb to use the headphone control as a master volume ;-)
I you are interested, I can post a step-by-step guide, how to get an independent master volume.

Now I'm curious, does this modification involve more than some tinkering around with screw drivers? I've seen that in firmware version 3.0 they changed something with the headphone controls but I don't know if that would deal with the issue.

Tom

Still lurking, has anone else seen the new 2015 version? It's on the markbass.it site.
They fixed this whole issue and went back to the original G/L/M setup. Yaaaay!
Now when will it be available?

That sucks for me. Hopefully they'll release some firmware that would at least allow you to emulate this set-up.

The language is dodgy, but I feel like I read that they are going to.. It could just be what you're referring to about the headphones though

I will second that. Instructions to change headphone knob? Or is there is a firmware fix?
