Hello all,
I hope everyone is doing well. I just found this forum not a month ago when I was embarking on replacing my DV Mark MULTIAMP FG. I had one back in 2018 and loved it. But, I was in a situation where I had to only run the head through a 15” speaker cab, which in theory sounds cool, but in audio practice it wasn’t. Way too woofy. Anyway, blaming the head and not the cab, before it was too late, I sold both pieces and bought a Boss Katana on my friends suggestion.
I missed my MULTIAMP FG bad when about a month ago a coworker asked, “do you still have that DV Mark”. Lol
So I bought a replacement. It’s great and sounds like my last one which feels at home.
I’ve been playing guitar since 1993. I’m 44 now. Started with blues like almost everyone else but around 20 started listening to, or trying too, Allan Holdsworth, and Frank Gambale.
At the same time I got into Eric Johnson. I modified my Strats, Fuzz Faces, tracked down BK Butler Tube Drivers. I was obsessed. Did more tone chasing then playing, sadly. Around 2012 I sorta just stopped collecting. I had 4 amps at that time. Two for clean and two separate ones for drive. Huge pedal board. Through the whole experience I became a sorta tech. Which is how I’ve been earning a living for the last 5 years at a guitar shop.
Around 2017 was a change for me. My playing was stagnant and I always wanted to alternate pick and “shred”. I saw a John Petrucci demo vid and it clicked. I began my shred life. Lol Also I reintroduced myself to Holdsworth and Gambale’s music. And I found Fusion/Jazz/Rock is my world.
My guitar choices changed of course from a vintage styled strat. And so did my amps. I sold all but one, my Marshall 1987X 50w Plexi reissue. And my Marshall cab. I wanted more drive! Lol And my rig and pedals, and even the humbucker loaded guitar I began to employ didn’t get me there. To my fusion sound of my dreams.
Around early 2018 I was at my shop where I work and saw a DV Mark MULTIAMP FG in the Hollywood location. I researched it as quickly as I could. Within a week of seeing it, it was delivered to my store and in my hands. I was so excited. I don’t know what year my 1st one was. It had that “Made In Italy” stamp on the front of it.
I put that amazing piece of gear on my Marshall cab and I was in Heaven! Tone Heaven. The fusion drive I was longing for was finally at my hands. No longer did I lust for a Mesa/Boogie Mark V, although I still wouldn’t mind one. I had my sound.
Now, almost 4 years later, after selling my 1st MAFG, I have another on a gifted to my via a customer, 1-12 Jensen Speaker cab. Ah it sounds amazing to me. I am so relived and thankful to have another.
I wish I found this forum back then in 2017-2018 cos now it seems all but a ghost town here now. But I am a proud member of a group of like minded gear heads.
Hello, Ciao, and Greetings. I look forward to making some new friends.
All the best.
