Hey everybody, just thought id introduce my self along with my musical taste.
Im mainly a rock/metal player, but i also enjoy Blues and jazz. I love Sabbath, Zeppelin, Floyd, Hendrix, Megadeth, SRV, and many others.
Up until now my main rig has been a 100 watt Marshall JCM2000 into a Marshall 4/12 (with various effects on my pedal train). I use a couple Gibson Les Pauls, a SG, a ES 165/175 (for jazz), a Carvin Jason Becker Model, and a beautiful American Fender Strat.
I gig with a few different bands ranging from Classic Rock, 60s psychedelic music, heavy thrash metal, and Jazz. I also do a lot of at home studio recording with my Pro tools rig.
What really appealed to me about the MULTIAMP was the broad range of tones, the light weight, the integrated effects (no more lugging around a pedal train and a billion cables) the ability to record direct into my Pro Tools rig with realistic cab sims, the built in 500 watt power amp, and the feel of a tube amp.
I was looking at the axe fx along with the kemper profiler, I just don't have that cash at the moment, i got kinda lucky and scored the MULTIAMP on eBay for $1050USD ($1500CAD) brand new with the dedicated midi controller and mark world bag included. Being in Canada, If i wanted to order an axe fx from fractal it would cost me $3600CAD (shipping/currency conversion/import fees, border tax)... and id still need to buy a power amp... So i started looking for alternatives and came across the MULTIAMP. (Should be arriving in the mail tomorrow!)
When playing live I'm planning on running the MULTIAMP XLR into the board AND into a cab on stage (so i can guaranteed hear myself and not take a chance on getting a shitty monitor mix) Now if anybody can clear a couple things up for me that'd be great!
1. If i understand correctly... i can turn cab sims off, plug into a cab on stage, but send the XLR outs to a board with the cab sims on. Right?
2. Say i wanna play a gig in stereo... but only have one cab... is there anyway to send a stereo signal to the board and a mono signal to my cab? From what i understand if i turn it on Mono mode even the XLR outs run in mono, Id like to have the crowd hear my stereo sound.
3. If i have a stereo cabinet, would i be able to plug both outputs into there and get a true stereo sound (probably a stupid question)
4. Is there anyway to bypass the power stage of this unit and use a different power amp?
Also if anyone has some cool thrash metal, hendrix, or floyd presets they wouldn't mind sharing that'd be really cool!
Thanks and Cheers!
