Hi all,
Last week end was my first gig with the MULTIAMP.
Overall, I am very pleased with the results. ...at least regarding the MULTIAMP … I'll not comment my own performance as a guitarist…
I really liked the sound I get out of the MULTIAMP. IMHO, it brings an actual improvement compared to the 11 rack I used before. And it is much more easy to find good sounds. I still need to adjust the preset levels for a more consistent volume between presents. I already did this during rehearsal but, for an unknown reason, this need to be redone for stage level.
I programmed the MULTIAMP for crunch/lead/metal/clean sounds plus 4 other specifics sounds. I use the g-system for additional wah, delay, modulations and as a midi controller for MULTIAMP.
I do not used a cab, the MULTIAMP XLR out goes direct to PA. The MULTIAMP out jack is also connected to the powered monitored on stage. The MULTIAMP volume button controls the jack signal but has no effect on the XLR out, a very handy feature to adjust the stage sound level during the gig with no impact on the FOH volume.
This friday, we have another gig . Your hints or comments on how to use MULTIAMP are welcomed!
Keep on rocking!

Hi! do you use the G system effects because in your opinion are better than MULTIAMP effects?
Me too have also a G system, but I bought the MA pedalboard for the weight and the dimensions.

Hi Blade,
Using the MULTIAMP for effects is certainly a very good option. I use noise sup. reverb, flanger, delay and probably others (don’t remember exactly). Unfortunatly, it has no wah.
Since G-system is there for wah and midi foot controller, I also use it for other effects. My setup has a history. I was using the g-system with a tube amp, then I switched to 11 rack and now to MULTIAMP. Still the g-system is used the same way: like stomp boxes.
I also like the idea of a small and light midi controller. But I am used to have a volume and wah pedal while, AFAIK, the DV pedalboard has only one expression pedal.
If g-system is big and heavy, on the other hand, I like its big/spaced/illuminated switches. I don’t know how easy the DV pedalboard is. You have both can you share your opinion?

Hi, I known very well the G system, It was my rig for 5 years, and I can say that It amazing! I bought the MULTIAMP MIDI padalboard two weeks ago, I'm very happy, I can say that I have all I need, 20 banks, six presets for bank a when I need it's possible to switch from Program Change to Control Change (CC0-CC7) and I can have eight swich for turn on/off the effects. I just add to my rig the wah wah crybay and the mini polytune. It's very simple to program, very light and can be put into the MULTIAMP bag.

Hi,
You setup seems handy and light. Do you use a cab or do you connect to PA? May be both?
For now I am using a wedge monitor to hear myself on stage but I am hesitating for a cab. I guess this would improve the sound (but only for me not, for the audiance that hear the PA). Drawback : that makes an additional box to transport. Does it worth the money and inconvegnence?

Hi, I'm using both, on all my presets I have the CAB slot turned off. In this way with the same preset I can choose the best connection. All my presets have a "Cab level" less or equal -1db. (XLR switch -4db). Normally I connect to the PA via XLR (stereo mode) using the CAB DV Mark 2x12 like a monitor (11kg). I also have a monitor full range JBL EON 510(8Kg), but I prefer the real Cab (I'm using them only on medium or big stage size). On small stage often I go only with the MULTIAMP. At the beginning I have had some problem with the correct configuration Mic/Cab/level ecc. What configuration are you using?

Lucat, thanks for sharing your experience! Interresting to see that you prefer the 2x12 sound over the JBL EON. When you use it on small stage do you mic the cab to the PA or do you just play direct to the audience?
My current configuration is a Fender strat dlx connected to a wireless that feeds the g-system+MULTIAMP. The wireless receiver+gsystem+MULTIAMP are all in a 4U rack.
The MULTIAMP XLR goes to the main mixer. The front of house are 2 Yamaha DXR12. The stage monitors are Yamaha stagepass 500. This system has a small mixer on which the monitor out of the main mixer is connected. Also, the MULTIAMP line out jack is connected to the stagepass mixer (bypassing the main mixer). This is my trick to tune the guitar level on stage during the gig, simply with the MULTIAMP volume button, without changing the audience level (xlr level does not change).

Hi,
g system is an Amazing machine and the controller is very useful. But too heavy weight!
also in my opinion the MA controller is great because you can put it in you MA bag or in the guitar bag. Also you have direct acces to the tuner and to delay tap tempo.
I use the MA on stage with a dragoon 2X12 with Vintage 30 speaker and the sound is good in my opinion. In the PA system the sound is not bad but I prefer the real guitar speaker.
I think to obtain better sound with cab sim is necessary to spend a lot of time to try several combination speaker/mic/in-off axis/livel etc.

Hi a_noize, I'm using always the XLR out in Stereo mode on all the stages, but if is possible I carry with me the real cab, it is lightweight and gives me a good sound, of course I had to work a bit to make the sound with the "CAB simulator" as close as possible to the real one! For example I use often the following configuration:
XLR Switch -4db Cabinet Mic Level Pos Respire HPF LPF AMP 4x12 Green 57US -1.8db Off Axis ON OFF OFF Ecstasy, Rock 900, SloDrive
The same with Mic = 451AT with JCMark, Gold414AT with Rock'75

I agree that g-system is quite big and heavy. And It looks like you are not missing its big illuminated switches while using the smaller/discrete DV mark pedal board. You prefer the real cab sound better than going to a full range monitor. That’s what I expected. However, if I got it right, with the setup of Lucat, the audience is not hearing the CAB but the PA. lucat, thanks for sharing your settings. I will try them and see how it sounds. Up to now I did not spent any time on the speaker sim. I just use one of the preset values. BTW, that’s one of the aspects I like on MULTIAMP: the preset from DV mark provides very usable sounds. Did you tweak the cab sim differently for each patch? Would be nice if, once you nailed the real cab, it works for all the patches. BLADE, do you also use the XLR to the PA or do you mic your cab or may be play direct to the audience?

Now I mic my cab, and in small pub I go out only with the cab (dragoon cabinets have a good diffusion of the sound). If in the future I will find nice sounds in direct I will use xlr output

Yes for each presets I have the correct cab/mic association (.. but morre or less I use always the same!), on the stage (... and often during the test) I have also the sound of the guitar (..that coming from the XLR out) on my monitor in front of me.

This is very interresting to see how you use the MULTIAMP. Thanks for sharing. I am considering using the DV Mark cab but I think that I'll wait some time before buying it.
Indeed, I did another gig with MULTIAMP this week end. This was in a small bar.
2 weeks ago the stage was bigger, I was kind of missing the sound of a real cab. This time the stage was very small; just enouth space for the 4 of us ... or not even :-) . The monitor for my guitar was 1 meter away and I really hear myself clear and loud. In these conditions, I the MULTIAMP sound throught the monitor was very good. I did not feel the need of a real cab. ... and it saved some space.
Next gig, will be on a bigger stage. I'll try to have the monitor very close to me again. I'll see if I miss a real cab.

Hey, do you notice any gap/delay/volume drop when changing the channels/presets on the MULTIAMP with the midi foot controller?

I also have that feeling of a fraction of a moment for preset switching. This delay is short enougth so I can manage to jump on the switch "just before the moment". I am not sure if the MULTIAMP is the culprit or the midi pedal board or just me. And, as you ask, I do not hear any volume drop while switching.
