Hello guys,
I am very interested in the DV MULTIAMP but have a question.
Can the MULTIAMP connect to my computer and record without having to mic up a cab?
And if so, in all honesty is the recording of good quality?
I really don't want to have to mic up cabs, I can't play loud and don't have much room.
I need a step up from guitar rig!
Cheers and thankyou!

Hi,
the answer is yes, you can record your MULTIAMP without a mic and a cab. The MULTIAMP has one left and one right line output and 2 XLR too. And the sound is really good. I recorded some demos with my band 2 or 3 weeks ago, i plugged my MULTIAMP directly on the mixer with a XLR cable. I only used an active speaker to hear me while playing. If you want to record yourself with your computer, you only need a USB soundcard to plug your MA in. (I use an old Alesis IO2 which works great).

Thanks dude. I have heard people saying DONT use the lineout on amps to record, but maybe the MULTIAMP handles it very well? I am VERY close to buying one now.. just need to be absolutely certain and would really appreciate a few more opnions. Is the only benefit of the stereo version playing live? Like going into 2 cabs?

Hi! I'm not pro, but in my opinion you can get good sound out of MA connected to computer. And very versatile sounds. If you know what you are doing and how to edit sounds, you'll get that good sound. You just have to play with amp, cab and mic choices. Stereo gives you nice sound fullness to the sound when recording or playing live. I'm not sure if the audience hears the difference if you are going mono or stereo.. Others can give you more thoughts about this And I believe that after firmware updates DV Mark will develop MA cabs and mics too, so the sounds will get better and better.

Thanks ceccez, done a bit of research and it seems you can get very solid sounds with just plugging into the PC. Would still love to hear more input before I pull the trigger. I would particularly like to hear the black and white differences between the mono and stereo versions, I have read the post on here about it but I'm still not entirely sure what the mono can't do.

Hi,
the only difference between the mono and stereo MA is:
- if you have 2 guitar cabs and a stereo MA you can play in stereo on these, i mean you can enable stereo on effects like delays, etc... - if you have the mono MA, you CAN'T have stereo on your cab BUT you still have stereo on both XLR or LINE outputs if you plug left and right.
There's no other difference...

MULTIAMP should be here this week! Went for mono, do I only need one XLR to connect to my audio interface or does it need 2? I have very little knowledge in these areas
Oh and will I be able to hear the MULTIAMP through my monitors??

Hi,
if you plug one XLR then you'll have mono, if 2 --> stereo.
I use one XLR/jack TRS cable, i connect to the XLR output on the MA and on the line input of the audio interface because the XLR inputs on mine are for mics only (not the same impedance). And yes, you'll hear your MA on your monitors.

It depends of your audio interface, on mine i have got a switch to select if i want a duplicate mono signal (left and right) because i only use one channel (1 XLR output on the MULTIAMP plugged), or if i want a stereo signal channel 1 and 2 (2 XLR outputs on the MULTIAMP plugged). For example: - If i select "stereo" and only plug one input on the audio interface (1 channel used), i can hear sound on only one monitor, but if i switch to "mono" i hear the same signal on the left and on the right. - If i select "stereo" and plug both inputs on the audio interface (channel 1 and 2), i can hear in true stereo on both monitors. I don't know if I'm really clear, i hope...

The amp arrived! Only been able to play with headphones so far because it sounds really bad through my Scarlett 2i2, even on the clean channels its hugely distorted? Whats the best way to connect the MULTIAMP to an audio interface so it plays out my monitors?
Right now I have an XLR/Jack cable like comete. XLR from left/mono, the jack goes into the front of the 2i2. I've tried turning things down but theres a huge amount of gain even on the clean channels not sure what im doing wrong!

Hello, behind your MA, near the XLR outputs, you'll find a +4db/-10db switch. Set it to -10db and you'll have a normal gain have fun with your MA !

Hi, If the level going into your Scarlett is Still too distorted go into the settings of the 'cab block' there is a level parameter which you can alter to get better results. Good luck!!
